How it all began

Picture this: It’s Tuesday, mid-morning and you have a sudden craving for Jamba Juice. So you head over to that fancy outdoor mall, you know the one, with the dancing fountains. As you’re approaching said outdoor mall, you hear children singing & see them thrashing around, excitedly spinning, crazily jumping, basically, losing their minds. You’re confused. It’s not December, so it can’t be Santa Claus. It’s not because they found the magic portal to Candy Land and it’s not because bedtimes were declared unconstitutional. What you are experiencing is EGG.

Wait a minute, why are there kids on the stage? Aren’t kids supposed to stay in those miniature plastic chairs or seated on the blanket obediently eating Cheerios while bopping their heads along to the music? The kids are not only on stage, but it looks as if they have almost taken over! Several are giving the drums what for, while others are rockin’ the mic & still more are dancing & air guitaring their little hearts out on stage. EGG not only allows kids to join them on stage, they encourage it.

And that’s only fitting considering the thought of EGG first cracked in Jeff Fuller’s brain because of a simple sentence his daughter Annabella said on that infamous rainy day: “Daddy, I wish it was Summer today, so we could go outside and play.” At this point in Jeff’s life, he had given up on playing music & decided his next step would be entering the corporate world as an audio engineer. But hearing his daughter say those words, it sparked an old flame in Jeff’s creative, musically minded mind. He suggested to Annabella that they write a song about her wistful thought.

Now, Jeff was pursuing a Hollywood, rock n’ roll sort of music lifestyle before he went corporate on us. Writing songs for kids? Nah, no way, that’s lame, dude. But as he wrote Summer Today with Annabella, the musical levee broke. Another song appeared, & then another one, soon the world was graced with ten rad songs that Jeff wrote, inspired by his Annabella.

And that is how EGG was hatched. Jeff’s daughter played such a large role in the development of EGG, that she designed the CD logo and named the first album Sunny Side Up. Describe EGG’s sound? Well, that’s kinda hard to do. One second you’ll hear rock n roll, the next song has a ska style, the next one has a punk rock vibe, the next is a sweet ballad, the next has a hip hop flavor. Hidden under the awesome music are clever lyrics that give advice, tell stories & just have fun. For example, one should look both ways, but not just while crossing the street, look both ways before you take that step in life in general. Hmm, I think we all could use that advice. Jeff’s children, Annabella & Townsend provide inspiration for the songs & can often be found on stage singing solos or fighting over the tambourine.

Jeff soon got his friend, the dynamite drummer Steve Clark, excited about EGG, which wasn’t hard to do. Steve had been touring the country with bands for fifteen years, but realized it was time to stay put with his family, which included his daughter, who was two at the time. It was quite a transition to go from rocking the country to kid’s songs, but the joy on his children’s faces, (now with a son) when they heard the music, was enough to convince Steve to move forward with Jeff to form the kids band of all kids bands.

EGG currently is comprised of Erin & Kim (back up vocals), Shahen (bass), Greg (bass & keys), Steve (drums) & Jeff (lead vocals, guitar & yolk). All of them can be seen playing or singing with other bands, or on TV, or in the movies, or on a theatrical stage, or parenting, or surfing, or just in general, being awesome. But when they all come together to be EGG, they meld into a band of complete radness.

Okay, so EGG plays kid’s club events at malls, where else can you catch them rocking out? EGG can be found from playing birthday parties to fundraising events in Jim Belushi’s yard. What?? Yep, it’s true. And they’ve played many schools, festivals & charity events from San Francisco to Las Vegas, spreading the awesomeness & joy that is EGG.

Wow, those kids just had a blast rockin’ out to EGG & oh, look, that little boy is crying because it’s over. Aww, and that little girl wants the band to autograph her CD. Wait, they’re going to play a second set in a little bit? Sweet! Jamba Juice who?

share a smile with everyone you meet, and you'll get ten back. Try it and see !!
